The Shepherds Hotel is a family owned modern 3 star hotels situated on the edge of the Lake District national park. With excellent access to Cumbria's main roads, the M6 motorway is only 30 miles away. The majority of rooms have views towards the Lake District fells, with the nearest lake being only 6 miles away. It is on the outskirts of the market town of Cockermouth and only a short drive towards Keswick & the central lakes. A cruise on Lake Windermere or Ullswater is also only a scenic drive away. The Western Lake District is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and also has a host of attractions to suit all ages. The hotel is in an ideal situation for the business person as it's in a rural location but still only a short drive to the industrial town of Workington or down to Whitehaven.

The Shepherds Hotel extends a warm welcome to the individual traveller, couples, families and those wishing to bring their pet on holidays. We are able to offer a variety of packages ranging from a one night bed & breakfast stay, short mid week breaks or weekend trips. Occasionally we have last minute offers or we can take reservations up to a year in advance to secure that important date or sporting event.

The hotel has a large free car park. It's is the ideal place to relax after working in the Lake District or whilst on holiday or taking a short break to visit friends and relatives.

Bedrooms

All rooms are modern, spacious and en-suite, some with magnificent views overlooking the beautiful fells.

All of the accommodation is maintained to the highest of standards and cleanliness.  They feature tea and coffee facilities, freeview TV, direct dial phone, modem points and broadband.

All rooms are ideal for anyone with mobility difficulties. There is a lift between floors and all levels have ramped access to the car parking areas.

Food & Drink

Our café / restaurant is open daily from 7am until 9pm. We offer home cooked hot breakfast, lunch, dinner. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day in casual surroundings.  If you have special dietary requirements please contact us in advance and we shall endeavour to cater for your needs.The bar is open daily from 11am until 11pm daily.

We offer a wide selection of malt whiskies, spirits and of course the local world famous Jennings beer.

An ideal way to relax after walking the fells or a hard day at work.

The café / restaurant / bar area is open to non residents.

Meetings

We are in an ideal location to host meetings or conferences. The hotel is on the edge of the A66, 30 miles from the M6 and provides a gateway to the west coast of Cumbria. We have a large free car park at the hotels entrance.

The shepherd's hotel has a conference room, with natural daylight, which is suitable for meetings from 2 – 50 people. It can be laid out to your requirements.

Theatre style max 50 people.
Boardroom style 30 people.

This is available on a day or hourly basis and refreshment and accommodation packages can be arranged to sit your individual requirements. Please contact our manager to discuss your requirements or alternatively e-mail us with your needs and we will respond.

We also have a 170 seat theatre available for hire
