Renowned for the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and efficient yet unobtrusive service, the hotel has been personally managed by the Nixon family for over 40 years. Mentioned in all the major guides, the hotel is one of only six establishments that has been listed in the Good Hotel Guide since it began. Both lounges have wi-fi access which is available to our guests free of charge.

With 16 individually appointed bedrooms and 3 suites - 2 of which are in the grounds of the hotel, there is accommodation to suit all needs. Families are welcome with rooms and suites available, together with cots, highchairs, baby -listening and an excellent High Tea menu.

Bedrooms

Rothay Manor's 19 bedrooms have fully appointed en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, radio and telephone.

Every care has been taken in individually designing and furnishing each room in a comfortable, gracious style in keeping with the Manor's exacting standards.

Standard Rooms are good sized rooms, with Double rooms having either a 5 ft or a 6ft bed, while Twin rooms have full size (3 ft) single beds.

Superior Rooms are at the front of the hotel and have a balcony with a delightful view across the garden to Wansfell, except for Room 14, which has its own patio and garden. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed and are generally more spacious than the standard rooms. Double rooms have a 6 ft bed.

For those who prefer extra privacy and space, there are 2 luxury suites in the grounds of the hotel approximately 25 metres from the main building:

Two bedrooms have been adapted for use by disabled guests earning the hotel a Category 2 listing in the National Accessible Scheme.

Dining

Renowned for the excellent cuisine, the hotel restaurant has 1 AA Rosette. The varied menu is prepared and served with flair and imagination to the highest of standards, complemented by an extensive personally compiled wine list.

A private Dining Room and Lounge are available for private parties and special occasions, and we offer a Gift Letter Service for that perfect gift.

Nowhere is the philosophy that 'if it is worth doing it is worth doing properly' more apparent than in the Manor's restaurant. At Rothay Manor, dining is treated as an experience to be savoured to the full. The menu is varied and meals are prepared and served to the highest of standards with flair and imagination. The Hotel is widely acclaimed in all the major guides for its culinary expertise, and has a personally compiled wine list with comprehensive coverage of all the wine regions of the world. The Dining Room itself is spacious with tables laid in a classical style.

The relaxing atmosphere and view of the gardens make it the perfect setting for any meal - whether it be lunch, dinner or a private party. Service is efficient yet unobtrusive, which makes each and every visitor feel truly at ease. This element of personal concern perhaps explains that elusive quality, remarked upon by so many guests, which sets Rothay Manor in the class of a true Country House Hotel.
