Lonsdale House was built in 1851 as a fine gentleman's residence, it first became a hotel in 1932. The property has recently undergone a £1/4 million refurbishment.

We believe the quality of accommodation and facilities is the finest to be found from any guest house or bed and breakfast in the Lake District, we feel sure you will agree.

Picturesque Bowness nestles on the banks of Lake Windermere. The town provides an abundance of restaurants, shops and attractions. The central Lake District location makes it the ideal base for visiting the many attractions across the whole of Cumbria. If you seek a gentle, less strenuous holiday Lonsdale House is the ideal retreat. Placing you in the perfect location to stroll along the Lakeside Promenade or golfers can enjoy a round or two at some superb local courses, no matter how much or little you want to do during your stay, Lonsdale House is the perfect place to add to the magic of a holiday in the Lake District.

Rooms

All rooms have en-suite facilities decorated and finished to a high standard throughout. Rooms available with lake views or four poster beds on request. Family rooms also available with a maximum capacity of five persons.
Please note all of our rooms are non-smoking.

Telephone :
Whilst internal calls are free, external calls will be charged at 25p per unit.

Flat screen TV + DVD player & library

Radio :
This can be found as part of the telephone, please feel free to re-tune
to any station of your choice.

Alarm Clock :
This can be found as part of the telephone, press the alarm set button and enter your required time. If you prefer an alarm call can be made to your room by reception, dial '0' to place your request.

Hair Drier :
This can be found in the drawer of your dressing table.

Complimentary Room Trays :
All rooms have a complimentary tray with a variety of teas, coffees, biscuits and sweets. There are also complimentary toiletries in the en-suite bathrooms. If any top ups are required please contact reception.

Dining Room

This can be found on the lower ground floor, breakfast will be served from 8.30 to 9.30. If you have any special requirements we ask that you inform us upon check-in.

Lounge

Our relaxing and comfortable lounge can be found on the lower ground floor, you are free to use this any time during your stay. Beverages will be provided upon request until the bar
closes in the evening.

You will find a complimentary video library and board games available for use during your stay.

Bar

Our newly refurbished 'Cellar Bar' is open to provide various draught and bottled beers, a wide selection of wines, Champagne and soft drinks.

Celebration Package

If you have something special to celebrate like a birthday or anniversary, or you just want to make your partner feel very special, why not add a celebration package to your first night.

We pride ourselves on being able to offer the widest possible variety of activities from extreme adventure to more sedate and relaxing scenic trips, why not organise some paint balling and sky diving for the boys whilst the girls have an afternoon of massage therapy!

Late Entry
The rear main access door is locked at 11:00 pm, the front main door will remain open with the inner door locked, your bedroom key will open this door.

Departure
We ask that your rooms are vacated by 10.30 each morning to allow
for housekeeping to take place.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO

The Lonsdale Hotel is an ideal base for touring and sightseeing the breathtaking Lake District landscape, for leisure and pleasure, which lies on our doorstep. You will find plenty of local walks and the ever popular Orrest Head with excellent views of the Lake Windermere and the Lakeland fells and beyound. Plenty of activities can be found close by fishing, cycling and mountain biking, boating, and horse riding. Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston and the Langdale Valley are all within 20 - 40 minutes drive by car making us a ideal choice to stay.
