Cumbrian Heavy Horses is a small professionally run Riding Centre unique in our use of the magnificent Clydesdale and Shire horse, for riding. Our love of these gorgeous horses remains our driving force; we hope to pass on that passion to all our customers, experienced and novice alike!
Situated in the Whicham Valley, we are within the boundaries of the Lake District National Park and nestle in the foothills of Black and White Combe. We are just a few miles from the coast and have access to some of the UK's most spectacular riding, with farm rides, beach and fell rides, (on occasion mountaineering on horse-back!!) suitable for riders of varying ability, with steadier rides and mounts for the nervous novice and forward going fluent Clydesdale horses for those wishing to experience the thrill of riding a
REAL horse!!!
In time, once we "find our feet" (or should that be hooves??!!) (sorry!!), we hope to make available Heavy Horse training courses in care, management, riding and driving (many of our horses drive too) and a whole range of other options - more details to follow in the near future.
Our stone built traditional farm provides a suitable setting for us to offer fantastic riding on well schooled Clydesdale and Shire horses we can take you to places high in the fells, on the beach or on the farm rides in the valley... all spectacularly beautiful;our horses move with grace, speedand power... we hope you enjoy your experience here with us!!
