Built in 1805 Crosby Lodge Country House Hotel enjoys an idyllic setting the heart of the peaceful Cumbrian countryside overlooking unspoilt parkland and the River Eden beyond.

The Sedgwick family purchased Crosby Lodge in 1970 and in the years since they and the hotel have gained an enviable reputation for quality and excellence.

Supremely comfortable, the Lodge maintains a dignified aura of tranquillity and solitude: richly furnished with fine period pieces of the Georgian ers, our guests feel instantly at ease and relaxed.

At the end of the day, it's not just a place to lay your head, and a bed is not just a bed. The well proportioned rooms at Crosby Lodge are home to suitably grand beds created at the hands of craftsmen and dressed in fine linens. Expansive views are framed by exquisitely patterned drapes, whilst sunlight dances through treetops and casts it's reflections on interior walls..

All of our rooms are equipped, as one would expect, with modern touches, but retaining the Georgian charm and elegance of the Lodge.

Crosby Lodge boasts a fine restaurant and a wonderful reputation for specialising in sumptuous, home-made dishes from the finest seasonal local produce.

The menu presents a superb selection for both lunch and dinner, not forgetting the famous sweet trolley of delicious desserts.
All the food at Crosby Lodge is splendidly complimented by the extensive wine list provided by Philippa Sedgwick Wines.
A four course table-d'hote menu is offered, along with an à la carte menu which includes arguably the best Châteaubriand in the country. For those

preferring lighter meals and snacks there are many delicious options for either a light lunch or dinner.
The restaurant is richly furnished with period pieces complementing the luxurious décor. The main dining area can be used for private dinner parties, celebrations and weddings. It can cater for up to 65 guests, although it is possible to extend this to seat up to 150 with one of our beautifully decorated marquees.

A small area of the restaurant can be split off from the main dining area to cater for small private lunch or dinner parties seating up to 14 guests. Weather permitting, light lunches and afternoon tea can be taken in the gardens or on the terrace, and Crosby Lodge is fully licensed so that you may take pleasure whilst enjoying the wonderful view.

Beautiful upholstery and traditional pieces, open fires and expansive views-a place to unwind,to contemplate and relax in the splendour . Careful thought and a discerning eye have been brought together at Crosby Lodge and the result is an interior which is in perfect keeping with the Georgian architecture and design.

Crafted woodwork and period colour schemes
combine to give a feeling of airiness ,space and of being bathed in light, thanks in no small part to the full height windows: a perfect spot from which to enjoy a novel or simply sit and drink in the views.
An understated harmony and symmetry exists between the carefully selected pieces of furniture: winged chairs and chaise longue wait patiently on delicate legs,
striking poses of relaxation and calm.
A place where there is time for just doing nothing and doing nothing in particular
is time well spent.

We don't just think Crosby Lodge would be perfect for your wedding, we know it would be perfect. Since 1970 we have been organizing weddings and receptions here and have built a reputation for excellence and providing the highest levels of service on such an important day.

And now that Crosby Lodge has a Civil Marriage License we are able to facilitate the whole wedding - the ceremony, the reception and the accommodation.
The wedding ceremony can take place in the elegant surroundings of the Drawing Room, Bar or Restaurant. A truly romantic setting, weather permitting, is the Gazebo in the Walled Garden - a favourite for those planning a summer wedding.

The prices for a Civil Ceremony range from £275.00, inclusive of flowers.

Our extensive, beautifully maintained grounds and the Georgian architecture of the Lodge make a superb backdrop for the all important wedding photographs, plus the terrace is an ideal spot for your guests to mingle and enjoy canapés and a drink.

We'd also be more than happy to help relieve some of the pressure by assisting with the planning of your big day. We can assist with the wedding cars, recommend photographers, organize the floral arrangements and even commission a wedding cake.
