The Brown Horse Inn is a traditional 1850s Lake District coaching inn set amidst the scenic splendour of the Winster Valley. The Inn and its six luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms, enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. From here you can enjoy the best of the Lake District with Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston and the Langdale Valley before retreating back to the peaceful serenity of the Brown Horse Inn.
For the more active guests, particularly those with children, there is automatic membership of the Low Wood Hotel's leisure facility, in nearby Windermere including spa, swimming pool and beauty salon. There is also the opportunity for sailing, fishing, horse riding, cycling and a wide variety of stunning walks to choose from.

Accommodation
We offer nine luxurious en-suite bedrooms. These spacious, well appointed rooms, are completed to a very high standard with colour televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and trouser press. The largest is a family room with one double and a single bed. One bedroom has twin beds and the other eight are double bedded.
As part of the package guests can enjoy the Brown Horse breakfast complete with eggs, sausages and bacon from the Brown Horse Estate.

Dining & Bar
Residents and non-residents alike, can enjoy the best of hand pulled traditional ales whilst relaxing in our public bar amidst an old world atmosphere of oak beams and log fires. This can be followed by lunch or dinner in our spacious, non-smoking restaurant. We specialise in traditional and continental dishes using fresh organic produce from the Brown Horse Estate including venison, lamb, beef, pheasant and eggs. Dinner can be washed down with a pint of local ale, your choice of wine from our extensive cellar or our very own Willow Water, famed locally for its therapeutic qualities.
Children are very welcome at the Brown Horse Inn and we have devised a menu especially for their developing tastebuds.

What to see and do
Brown Horse Inn is an ideal base for touring and sightseeing the breathtaking Lake District landscape, for leisure and pleasure, which lies on our doorstep. You will find plenty of local walks and the ever popular Orrest Head with excellent views of the Lake Windermere and the Lakeland fells and beyound. Plenty of activities can be found close by fishing, cycling and mountain biking, boating, and horse riding. Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston and the Langdale Valley are all within 20 - 40 minutes drive by car making us a ideal choice to stay.
