STOTT PARK BOBBIN MILL - near LAKESIDE, NEWBY BRIDGE
Stott
Park Bobbin Mill
is situated at Finsthwaite in a woodland setting near
Newby Bridge which is just South of Lake Windermere
and is one [1] of the few surviving and preserved working
museum mills in the country which once provided the
bobbins to the spinning and weaving industry in Lancashire.
On the tour you will see the bobbins being made using
the mill's original machinery and techniques of the
19th century in which it was powered by a static steam
engine in tandem with a water turbine with the mill
using birch, ash and sycamore to make the wooden tool
handles along with the bobbins.
You can also visit the small exhibition and a gift shop
to browse and purchase your gifts.
It is advisable to
contact Stott Park Bobbin Mill prior to your visit if
there is something specific you wish to see or any alterations
have been made to the Opening times and the attraction
itself.Disclaimer
