The Upland Kingdom Discovery Centre
is located close to Penrith
on the A66 heading towards Keswick
were you will unearth the history and mystery of the
region.
The centre is named after the ancient Celtic Kingdom
"Rheged" and is built in a natural hollow
and is the largest grass covered building visitor attraction
with five [5] levels of exhibitions.
The journey begins in the Mountain Hall which features
Cumbria's famous limestone crags, from here you will
cross over the brook and enter into the Cinerama theatre,
as you live a life and day in Cumbria through a superb
sound and light show entitled "A journey through
the day," . Then onto on a giant cinema screen
showing the first British large format film in which
you will witness the final battle of Rheged's legendary
King Urien, ride with the Border Reivers on a raid,
come face to face with William
Wordsworth in this life journey through the heart
and soul of England's Mountain Kingdom.
The next step is to the Exhibition, as you walk along
the path you will discover the treasures of Rheged and
more, that will interest children and adults alike.
The National
Mountaineering Exhibition in which you will discover
why people climb. From Everest, Matterhorn to great
mountaineering climbers.
Beside
the Rheged Movie you will discover various other movies

You can also browse and purchase from specialties shops
displaying the finest local food and crafts.
If you are feeling hungry you can indulge yourself in
one [1] of the two [2] restaurants that serves food
to match the excellent views to be seen. In the evening
there is also entertainment to be found.
