Jennings
Brewery can be
found in Cockermouth
brewing traditional beers since 1828 and is the last
remaining independent brewing company in Cumbria.
Jennings was founded in a small village called Lorton
between Keswick
and Cockermouth and then moved to its current home in
1874.
Jennings
Brewery still uses the same methods as you will discover
on the Tour around the brewery next to the river Cocker
and the Derwent that merge together, with the water
still being drawn from the original well source and
used for the brewing, along with the finest raw materials
that are added including British malt, English hops,
sugar and yeast. The Tour lasts for about one and half
[1.5] hours.
At the end of the tour you
can sample some of the fine ales you have seen and smelt
ranging from the famous Jennings Bitter which is noted
for its malty, nutty and mellow taste or one of the
other fine beers such as Cumberland Ale, Cocker Hoop
or the Sneck Lifter.
After the sampling you can
purchase from the shop your favourite drink and gifts
for yourself, family and friends.
Whilst in the Cumbria why not visit one of the Jennings
Pubs to have a drink, food and maybe stay the night
if accommodation is available.
