Coniston
Launch offers cruises on Coniston Water being the
third biggest Lake in the Lake District. The Launch
boats are made in traditional timber and were built
by craftsmen over eighty [80] years ago.
Coniston Launch are proud to maintain these boats and
they also take a pride in caring for you so that you
can enjoy the cruises on Coniston Water.
Coniston Launch North Lake service provides a 50 minute
cruise calling at four jetties, whilst if you would
prefer a longer 90 minute cruise to the very foot of
the lake then the South Lake service runs three times
daily on most days of the week.
You can call at Brantwood
the home of John
Ruskin from 1872-1900 which his drawings, watercolours
and his own items can be seen.
They also run two other special interests cruises: Campbells
on Coniston where you will receive a full commentary
as you follow the route and history of the attempts
to break the World Water Speed Record and Donald Campbell
fatal last bid at the record. Swallows & Amazons
in which you explore the locations that Arthur Ransome's
depicted in his much loved children's books.
They also offer a series of walks leaflets that are
available to purchase on the boats and also provide
a Coniston Launch for private charter for your group
of up to 50 people during either the daytime or the
evening.
It is advisable to
contact the Coniston Launch prior to your visit if there
