Of The Lakes
S ituated close to Newby Bridge on the shore of Lake
Windermere, Lakeside. The aquarium is an awarding-winning
freshwater aquarium.
At the aquarium you will enter into a journey, discovering
the life of the creatures living in and around the streams,
rivers and the lakes, with the journey beginning with
the high mountain tops to were the fresh water meets
the estuary and into the sea.
Within the aquarium there are over thirty [30] displays
which includes the largest collection of freshwater
fish, see the playful otters and watch the diving ducks
of Windermere as they dive for food and having fun above
your head. Also on view are the sharks and rays from
around the local coast.
 Enter
into Aquaquest to take a closer look at Lakeland life
in the lab and see the tadpoles, toads, frogs, grass
snakes, worms and leeches.
Take a break in the Cafe at the Quay and relax and
enjoy the views of the lake and then a visit to the
gift shop to browse and purchase gifts.
You could make it a full day out with a trip on a Lake
Windermere Cruise with a visit to Bowness on Windermere
or Waterhead [Ambleside], or a visit to The Lakeside
& Haverthwaite Railway, you could even arrive at
the aquarium by the lake cruise or the railway with
a special all in one price.
