Fishing can be a rewarding time in Cumbria and the Lake District with the beauty of the mountains around you and the towns and villages steeped in history close by.
The area offers excellent fishing for all types of anglers fishing the lakes and tarns across the Lake District. The types of fish to be caught are wild brown Trout, Perch, Roach, Eels and Pike.
You will find that most of the National Trust lakes, tarns and becks can be fished if permits are purchased. You will find also some waters are either private or for conservation, you are advised to seek information to where these areas are. On some waters fishing is free.
On all National Trust waters lead weights are banned and no live bait is allowed.
If you wish you could hire a guide to go fishing or even improve your skill and knowledge of the area.
